Yama-Inu Breed
Considered the more primitive and feral of the Okami breeds, the Yama-inu are much more intelligent than your average wolf and usually slightly larger. Their average lifespan ranges from 30-80 years. While they are capable of understanding Common, they don’t have the capabilities of speaking it themselves. They will generally travel with a Monsu or Hiretsuna if they have a message or request to be relayed. Yama-inu generally form family packs with a typical formation, however, it is not uncommon for them to include normal wolves in their packs as well as breed with them. While each pack has an alpha, the daughter of the wolf god is considered alpha over all breeds of Okami. Most of this breed generally prefers to live in the wilds, guarding the sacred gardens of their Mother Luna, or protecting the Yokai glen. It is rare for the Yama-inu to reside in the towns since they view that form of living to be similar to living as a ‘pet’ or domestic dog.
